Melbourne is one of the great food cities, which means hospitality venues are competing not only on taste and service but also on how they present themselves visually. Strong food photography helps restaurants, cafes, bars and hospitality brands attract attention online, strengthen their identity and make customers want to book, visit or order. Creative Jim Multimedia provides professional food photography in Melbourne designed for real commercial use — menus, websites, social media, advertising and venue marketing.
With more than 20 years of professional experience, Jim Kellam works with hospitality clients to create images that show colour, texture, atmosphere and quality without losing the authenticity of the food itself. Some venues need bright, clean menu-style photography for websites and delivery platforms. Others need moodier, more atmospheric images that reflect the personality of the space. The approach can be tailored to suit the brand, audience and intended use of the photographs.
Food photography often works best when it is treated as part of a broader marketing system rather than a standalone shoot. That can include hero dish images, drinks photography, venue interiors, staff portraits, chef imagery and social media content captured at the same time. Because Creative Jim Multimedia also offers graphic design and web design, many clients appreciate having one creative supplier who can help bring everything together consistently across their menus, promotional material and website.
Based in Melbourne, Creative Jim Multimedia works with restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars and food businesses that want photography with both visual appeal and commercial purpose. Whether the brief is a menu refresh, a venue relaunch, new seasonal dishes or ongoing content for marketing, the focus is always the same: create imagery that looks professional, feels on-brand and helps the business stand out.
I can also photograph corporate headshots for team pages, interior photography for venue spaces and graphic design for menus, interior & exterior signage and promotions & ads.
Professional imagery helps menus, campaigns, websites and social posts look more polished and more persuasive.
Consistent imagery gives your venue a stronger visual identity across Instagram, websites and delivery platforms.
Well-executed photography helps customers associate your food and venue with quality, care and professionalism.
One shoot can supply images for menus, print, websites, advertising, PR and social content all at once.

Food photography shoots need to work around real service environments, real kitchen pressure and real time limits. The simplest approach is usually to plan the must-have shot list first, identify key dishes, decide whether the look should be bright and clean or moodier and atmospheric, and then shoot efficiently during prep, quiet service windows or closed periods where possible.
Food photography pricing depends on the number of dishes, the style of shoot & the location which all affects the time required.
Some venues need a small menu refresh, while others need a broader content library for websites, social media, campaigns and delivery platforms.
If you have a large number of dishes (25+) to be shot with the same set-up & background we can work out a price per shot as long as the dishes are ready to be shot in sequence.
Yes.
Most food photography is done on location so the lighting, plating, kitchen workflow and venue atmosphere can all be taken into account.
Shoots can be planned around prep time, quieter periods or closed sessions where needed.
I have a portable lighting set-up that I can bring which includes a selection of flat-lay backdrops, many of which you can see in my food photography gallery here.
Although I don't need a huge amount of room to set up the ideal minimum is about 1.5m x 1.5m.
Absolutely.
Many hospitality clients get better value by capturing food, drinks, venue interiors, atmosphere and staff portraits in the same session.
That creates a more complete content library for menus, websites, social media and promotions.
